This month we rolled out our education series . first off was a diy session placing planar textures on mesh prims. Particpants terxtured a cottage and got to keep it after .

This week started beginners scripting using the LSL kanguage... part 2 is next Tuesday 4/2.

Future classes will include using windlights and advanced lighting, making shadow prims, terraforming and lanscaping and even self hosting regions

the NEVERWORLD Continent Project

The continent project was started in the fall of 2017 with the vision being that a contiguous large tract of land would be developed and used daily by our residents. Similar to the Linden model, it planned to have an interconnecting network of roads and bridges and waterways.
The naming conventions of the project include names of authors, artists, famous book characters astronomers and explorers. Also water regions are named after precious stones.
Currently the mainland area... includes four major land masses with the main land mass being central and consisting of 25 regions. Smaller islands are connected as well as some of our residents’ private islands.
Eventual goal is to completely encircle the land masses with navigable water. Currently all water regions between the land masses are navigable, as well as some eastern water regions.
Another large land mass is being planned to connect to these regions after the last of the regions are occupied.
Most regions are encouraged by the builders to be mixed use. That being said, the project is always in need of free parcel rentals for members, activity sims and freebie shops.
Current projects include a WIP Zombie sim in Walden, funeral parlor in Ashley, Freebie furniture and garden shop in Scarlett, beach club in Willoughby and clubs in progress in Messier.

Active builders are ALWAYS welcome.
WE CURRENTLY HAVE OPEN REGIONS IN THE NORTH, astronomers region.

A users guide to Dream Hunt

This week we officially rolled out Dream Hunt, our new interactive hunt region.
This was several  months in the making... the idea was conceived by Dream Catcher one night (this lady is filled to the brim with ideas).  As we listened to her vision, we became excited. 

It would be a forest.
It would have prizes
Anyone can play
We would become wildly popular (LOL) in opensim

So, we started to implement Dream's vision.

Locked Semaphore began the step by step process of creating the game.
Oh yes, he did create it from the ground up.
This was the longest step, many an hour was spend in the sandbox texting, and coding.
How many lines of code does this game's scripts have?
I guess you will just have to ask him :)

So... this piece finally came together.
Then Pasha wove magic in creating the most beautiful forest in virtual on the Dream Hunt region.
The region's hills, valleys and water areas came alive with densely packed spruce trees, bushes, flowers and underbrush.
To me the most enchanting (and damning) piece in this were her frequent use of yellow follows.
More on that later...

Then, Locked and I began the arduous task of creating the Token Redemption Center, a large sky ward store that sits rimmed by blue mountains. Since our prizes were to be unique, this task took weeks in hunting (LOL) down and creating great items to stock the store. 

Prizes start at 5 coins upton to 250 coins. 
Since there is a 100 coin a day limit, you may have to travel to Dream Hunt several times to save up enough coins to get your desired items.
Or not.
We intend to have Double Days -- where coins will have double the value... look on opensimworld.com for event schedule.

So.. what is it like to collect coins on Dream Hunt?
In awe, the developers started exploring as a DH user.

Well... I have good days and bad days. Some days I rez there and a 10C is sitting right next to me at eye level. Other days I do quite a bit of walking before finding a coin.
They are often half buried in the ground, so look closely.
But. Make sure you have your viewer draw distance up and ...
Don't be deceived by the yellow flowers!  They look like coins!
Until you get up close to them.
Darn!

But don't make hunting for coins your only reason for visiting. This region is just so pretty stop and smell the flowers.
Only stay away from the yellow ones...

Couture, Flagship of the Neverworld Fashion Cluster...

Neverworld is pleased to announce the grand opening of their fashion cluster, Couture.
This conglomeration of regions will concentrate on avatar fashion and fashion shows.
 
The cluster will ultimately consist of a modeling school, runway, shopping and housing for both designers and models in opensim.
 
The flagship region, Couture, has recently been finished.  This region was scratch built in mesh by Locked Semaphore. Locked designed runways for major SL fashion shows for many years.
 
Couture currently has several free shops in this region available for rent.  A designer who takes a shop will join with some of the best fashion designers currently in opensim.  In addition, renters will receive a goody package for store set up, including an easy to use NPC controller for their shop.
 
Adjacent to the main region is Designer Sandbox, which is a workspace for Couture fashion designers only.
 
Also adjacent to the main region is The Enclave, an exclusive housing region offering free 2448 m parcels to Couture designers.
 
Future plans call for a modeling school region and a sister housing region for Design Couture models. In addition classes on creating high quality content, including mesh clothing, will be offered to members.

Life's A Beach...

​When our mega varregion Neversea (10x10) went up live we were amazed at all the space. Looking out to the vast amount of water, we worried would we ever be able to hit the edge of the sea, and how would we find our way back?
Thinking back to the time when I had developed a surfing region for another grid, I had idea already.
 
I started to terraform a long, shallow rambling beach along the northern perimeter of Neversea.  It was not so wide as to need roads or anything but wide enough for a few improvements.
 
Working with my trusty building crew, a marina started taking shape, but nothing fancy or uptight or formal. This was after all a beach!
Find yourself in a little marina with docks… there are boats and jet skis there you can borrow.
Walk down the beach and there is a rustic wooden path with Tiki Huts.  A few businesses are there for all your beach and tropical needs. The Beach Shack offers home décor, and some clothing items that you will need to complete your low key outfit while here on this region.
 
Go further down the beach to find a protected little surfing area, complete with surfboards with sails. Pick a long board up at the Beach Shack. There are even rolling waves there!
 
You are welcome to continue along the beach to hang out, picnic, or…whatever.  The white sand of the beaches are inviting… may even do a dance club in the future.
 
The Neversea Marina is a low key place to be your springboard to the rest of the region. If you require and desire a slightly more formal setting consider the Neversea Aerodrome and Marina for slips.

Introducing Neversea!

I've spend the last week literally underwater.  When Randall fired up my latest project I was thrilled and I still have not stopped jumping and down. Which does, at times result in this avatar being underwater.

​What would Neversea be like?

It would be a VERY large massive water varregion. So here it was 2560 x 2560 .. or 10 regions by 10 regions OR .. the mass of 100 square regions.

All to be able to sail to our hearts content!  

​Soon after creating this region, and starting a thin beach along the northern end, I procured a few water toys. That being, sailboats that work in opensim from the creator Kayacker Magic.  Bulletsim jetskis and surfboards by Hans Nerido. And away we went,  Burnt Toast and Dizzy Marville and I, splashing for days on our newfound water playground.

​Then we discovered we needed land!

​So I started to create a few atolls.  There is Mermaid Atoll and Sunset Caye and Lost Boys and Captain Hooks. The private islands are beautiful and large and VERY private and FREE.  most are about 1/3 of a region, contain fully furnished tiki huts and palms, docks and plenty of room to add your own touches.    This is the life, this is what virtual is meant to be. No nasty neighbors who yell at you or eject you back to your home because .. yikes, you were on their land for a full two seconds... this is privacy, no-drama, tropical living.

​The Marina section on the beach includes the sailboats and the surfboards... and the jetskis. Take one out for a spin or a sunset cruise.

​While  you are there you will find the future land office which will showcase available islands for rent as well as a few tropical inspired shops.

​Come visit us and have as much fun as a kid again, in our fantasy waterwolrd!

Canal View Apartments-- Where every Grubbie hangs his hat...

Happy Valentines day virtual travelers!  Let me tell you about the project I have been working on for the last week. It didn't take long for me to visualize a place for the underlings (Grubbies) of Stilwater to live in.


Now, I am all the for the lowly proletariat, who scraps by on little and happily lives their life overlooking the Ritzy part of the city.
​I thought a good place to fit this little apartment complex would be on the other side of the Stilwater Canal, itself a murky, dirty little waterway that separated the city of Stilwater from the rest of the world.

Enter a beautiful but very decrepit small apartment building.  Is it modern? Hint: its a walk up.

​I added some nice dirty accents on the outside including a few road barriers, dumpsters and dirty patches.  Will be building a warehouse of some kind later on.

​The apartments themselves are for rent. Does FREE mean anything to a metaverse traveler? Okay no? Then how about a Garish, overdone, flashing "FREE" sign.  Intrigued yet? Laughing...

​I didn't want the apartments to be unfurnished., I had a lot of fun the last week furnishing it with as gritty and grimy a collection of furniture I could find. (Okay, I admit it, most of it I made.  A good portion of this furniture can be found in the Neverworld Mega Freebie Store.

​There are two styles of apartments, you can have your pick.

Birth of a Role Playing Community

Here I am, over 10 years in Second Life and 15 plus years in virtual communities and I realize I have never delved into the addictive, crowd pleasing world of virtual role playing. 

In a sense, I find that I can describe myself as a loner, so being in this highly regimented world of a virtual community, one that has strict rules and deadlines, goes against my very nature.

Yet I find myself yearning to develop such a community.  Although I am a loner, I find myself drawn to places with large crowds, either to stay in the fringe or dance in the midst. I guess you can describe my where-with-all as “complex”.
 
So here I am, looking into other successful RP communities and even joining some (as the painfully shy person I consider myself – hanging out on the periphery).
 
Now I am staring to delve into the workings of their community, and what makes them tick, what makes them interesting, or not.
My findings –
 
I have a lot of work to do.  I doubt I can do this on my own.
A good organized webpage I find, is essential.
 
Here are the sections I think we will need –
 
“Tell Your Story”
“Dress Code”
“Roles”
“IC vs. OOC”
“Calendar”
That’s the easy part.
The hard part – A HUD for character creation and points

I have no idea.  I need – I need help!


I have an idea forming in my head, it’s been used before, but I want it in Neverworld Grid, in Stilwater.


A post-apocalyptic world in which the good side and the bad side of town fight for resources… you need food and potable water, and shelter away from the acid rain.
And…maybe sometime have to fight to get this stuff.  You need to align yourself with a posse in order to obtain these goods.  Can you find love in this world?

Respect?

Knowledge? 

I don’t want my characters fighting aliens or zombies.

They are going to fight the most cunning predator there is on this planet.

Himself.
